From the very start, our pristine Chardonnay grapes were handpicked, ensuring an impeccable foundation for greatness. Fermented with precision in French oak barrels, a blend of 20% new and 80% meticulously aged barrels (1 and 3 years old) were artfully chosen to harmonize with the distinct characteristics of the grapes.

What Alex Mackay (our winemaker) did

The grapes were 100% whole bunch pressed. The juice was then fermented (using full malolactic fermentation) and matured on lees in French oak barrels (20% new) for 11 months before being blended and bottled.

This wine says "I am a real Tumbarumba chardonnay - well structured with elegance and a very satisfying mineral acidity. I've developed a bit of funkiness after hanging out with some new (and old) French barrels for 11 months.
